Although Roedean School has much to be proud of in terms of exam results, educational excellence is not the only indicator of Roedean's academic success. The Brighton private school offers girls aged 11-18 an education that extends beyond the classroom and includes various charity and community initiatives.
In agreement with Roedean holistic ethos, the School is committed to making a difference in its local community and beyond. Students choose to take part in a range of rewarding activities to develop their skills and sense of social responsibility. As a result, Roedean girls develop into compassionate, respectful and socially aware individuals.

Charity fundraiser.
Community music, which includes preparing concerts for local institutions.
Working with Hope in the Valleya group that gives children with disabilities the opportunity to experience the therapeutic benefits and joy of riding.
Choosing a dedicated CAP partner encourages girls to focus on specific groups that will benefit from the students' work.
The Roedean Academy
Roedean Academy brings together local students who have high aspirations and helps them prepare for Sixth Form studies. Around 120 students from 7 state schools in the area attend the Academy to join the Roedean girls for an enrichment programme.
The enrichment program lasts eight weeks in the spring semester and includes various activities in the fall and summer. During each session, students choose between five and six modules that expand and deepen their knowledge of the curriculum. Taught by Roedean staff, these units cover topics within the subjects of science, history, politics, classics and languages.
Roedean Academy students also conduct independent research during the school year. This work culminates in an academic paper, which students present to an audience of their peers.
The Junior Roedean Academy
Junior Roedean Academy (JRA) accepts over 150 Year 5 students visit Brighton Private School for an eight-week enrichment program. The program takes place during the fall and spring terms and offers students a variety of enrichment activities.
Students in Year 12 can choose to support JRA as their CAP activity. In this way, Year 12 students have the opportunity to share their knowledge and passion with JRA participants.
Giving to Charity
The Roedean school community undertakes many charitable activities each academic year. Students help raise money for the School's chosen charities, which this year are the Raystede Center for Animal Welfare and the Brighton Hummingbird Project. The School is also sponsoring 10 girls around the world as part of PlanUK's #BecauseIAmAGirl campaign.
In addition, Roedean sends food to her local partner charity, Off the Fence, every week. Outside the fence supports the homelessdisadvantaged women and vulnerable children in Brighton and Hove.
The Lawrence sisters who founded the Roedean School suggested that a Roedean education should develop a strong sense of personal and moral values. “Being compassionate” is one of six goals the Brighton private school advocates for each of its students.
Through regular charity fundraisers and community outreach initiatives, Roedean girls cultivate their generosity and compassion.
